need a duck club near St. Louis, MO

Does anyone know of a proven, mid-range duck club near St. Louis that will/should have an opening for 2009? I'm trying to lock into something early for 2009 season.

About Us

Sitting Ducks, LLC was formed in 2005 by John Zipf and Dave Sabino. John and Dave had hunted ducks and geese in St. Charles County for years and had always been troubled by the large number of duck clubs in the St. Peters/St. Charles area and the hunting pressures that accompanied. In the fall of 2004, a tract of land became available in West Alton, Missouri. John and Dave agreed to purchase it and begin efforts to construct a duck club. Since opening in 2005 Sitting Ducks has now become one of the finest hunting clubs in St. Charles county.

Sitting Ducks is 95 acres of farmland located approximately 3 miles from the confluence of the Missouri and Mississippi rivers. Of the 95 acres, 72 of them are surrounded by a levee and is flooded during the hunting season. Corn, Japanese millet, and buckwheat have been planted in the duck lake and corn and sunflowers have been planted on the land exterior to the levee. We always expect to attract plenty of ducks and geese during their season and a bounty of dove during that season. The 2007 season harvested approximately 200 ducks and over 1,000 doves.

The membership of sitting ducks will consist of John, Dave, our caretaker, and 24 other members. We hope to provide an enjoyable and safe hunting environment for our members.

For further information, please email Dave Sabino at sabino@stlcpa.com or John Zipf at John@Zipfair.com or call Dave at 314-880-4353.

I will put our club up against any other club in the St. Charles County bottoms. Yes, 18 hunters killed 466 ducks. However, we only hunted 5 days total this year. The neighboring club got jealous after the opening day and dumped a bunch of corn on our club. We called a conservation agent to file a complaint and he shut our club down until all the bait was gone. It ended up taking up the whole season so we only hunted the first 5 days.

im with kit, 466 ducks for 1 season. Damn, with those numbers, you could get almost equal results on public land. I talked to buddy with a mdc blind around west alton who killed 270 ducks.
I am not knocking duck clubs. Everybody has the right to make a buck.

I have hunted this club with sittingducks and is partners flyingducks and swimmingducks. It is a top notch club. I am not deterred by the short, 5 day, season. I have already sent in my check to assure my spot for the 2009 season. Hopefully, they will have me back.

Re: need a duck club near St. Louis, MO

Jealousy is usually the demise of most quality dick clubs. Never has a club owner or manager put out bait to draw ducks, it is always the pissed off landowner next door that gets a either a small boat and spreads corn or a plane to fly over and dump corn.

Just how many dumbasses are there in this sport?
